TOKYU HOTELS Joins the Global Sustainable Tourism Council

On February 17, 2026, TOKYU HOTELS became the first Japanese hotel chain to have all of its properties join the Global Sustainable Tourism Council® (GSTC), an international non-profit organization established in 2007 that manages the GSTC Standards – the global standards for sustainable travel and tourism- and provides international accreditation for sustainable tourism Certification Bodies.

  TOKYU HOTELS has been proactively advancing its sustainability initiatives across its hotel chain and individual properties for several years. In 2019, the company established its Sustainability Policy, guided by the vision of being “a hotel brand that cares for the planet, communities, and people.” In 2022, under this policy, the company introduced the Sustainable Action Plan 2022 as a set of concrete guidelines to realize a sustainable society.

  Guided by the GSTC Standards, TOKYU HOTELS will progressively advance initiatives within our company to enhance understanding, develop talent, and visualize and elevate efforts at each of our hotels. In addition, through collaboration with local communities, municipalities, and partners, we will help improve the sustainability of Japan’s tourism industry as a whole. We will also steadily advance initiatives toward realizing sustainable tourism through hotel operations that are closely integrated with local communities.

  TOKYU HOTELS will leverage its membership in GSTC to further deepen its sustainable initiatives underway across its hotel chain and individual properties and align them with internationally recognized standards for sustainable tourism. This will enhance TOKYU HOTELS’ brand value and strengthen its position as a brand of choice. In addition, as a member of GSTC, the company will actively encourage and support the acquisition of sustainability certifications at its properties.
